Negotiations for a Productive Cooperation for Africa

 Purpose of the meeting

To analyze thematic issues, success stories, challenges and opportunities relevant to the UN Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and particularly the Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) 17.

South-South cooperation has gained a new centrality with respect to the 2030 Agenda, always complementing North-South cooperation. The Seminar will consider the lessons from the negotiations by Africa, Latin America and Asia and discuss opportunities for a productive cooperation.

Expected output

A summary conclusion with recommendations to support a thorough position and contribution from Africa 21 to the Agenda 2030 and the challenges of South-South cooperation.

 Organizational tips

The Seminar will be interactive and discussions will contribute to enhance the think-tank contribution to the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Participants are kindly invited to participate in the afternoon panel on conclusions and recommendations.

14h00-14h45 Session 6: Forum régional africain sur le développement durable en préparation du Forum Politique de Haut Niveau 2018  sur le développement durable (FPHN) : défis et opportunités pour l’Afrique

 La réunion du FPHN en 2018, qui se déroulera sous les hospices de l’ECOSOC, se tiendra du lundi 9 juillet au mercredi 18 juillet au siège de l’ONU à New York. Cette intervention portera, entre autres, sur comment l’Agenda 2030 contribue à alimenter la réalisation de l’Agenda 2063 de l’Union africaine pour une Afrique intégrée, prospère et en paix.
